Social Development department reiterates commitment to enhancing SASSA grants

Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her guidance and commitment to bettering South African Social Security Company (SASSA) products and services for the duration of an engagement along with the agency's senior managers in a strategic planning session in Cape Town.

Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the numerous social grant beneficiaries, who excelled in the 2024 matric exams.

With the 724 156 full-time learners who registered for the National Senior Certificate (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% on the registered pupils from the education sector.

These learners attained a commendable pass rate of 86%.

"This means the expenditure national government is earning within the lives of very poor and susceptible youngsters is yielding a beneficial affect in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe mentioned.

Reflecting on current achievements, the Minister highlighted vital milestones and ongoing priorities. She devoted to urgently addressing the issue of permanent leadership appointments along with the lack of staff at most neighborhood workplaces.

Additionally, the Minister highlighted the need for Neighborhood-based engagements and outreach pursuits.

"Our Local sassa grant payment dates community is watching for our enormous intensification of Neighborhood outreach, where by we prioritise underserved spots to convey expert services nearer to our people today," she reiterated.

With regards to SASSA devices, Tolashe urged management to prioritise increasing and modernising methods to improve accessibility, queue administration and stop fraud.

Moreover, the Minister has requested SASSA Performing CEO, Themba sassa Matlou, to offer a program that seeks to resolve the worries of payment channels in rural regions here by offering an alternative Option for payments.

"We website commit ourselves to operate with [SASSA]... We can be found at all times to deal with the difficulties alongside one another. Many of us need sassa status check to be Option-driven in our system to make alterations into the lives of our men and women through concerted attempts," the Minister claimed.

SASSA is a nationwide agency of presidency that administers South Africa's social stability program, which include distributing social grants on behalf of the Department of Social Development. – SAnews.gov.za
